Miracle 10 Facial Peel Treatment In a Nutshell
What is it?
Our Miracle 10 Facial Peel treatments combine exfoliation therapy and a unique dermaplaning approach with a lactic acid, glycolic acid, or salicylic acid peel as well as a special blend of our Miracle 10 skincare products that will leave your skin looking and feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.
Who is it for?
Anyone looking to:
- improve the overall feel and quality of the skin
- treat acne
- treat melasma
- reduce the appearance of age spots, sun damage and freckles
How It Works
Our peels are gentle enough that you can get them on your lunch break – there is no post-treatment peeling or redness (some individuals get a bit pink) – but effective enough to pack a serious punch. Almost everyone can benefit from a peel treatment, and they are truly the building block for all the beauty treatments we offer.
Which Peel Treatment is Right for you?
Depending on your particular skin type, the Miracle 10 Peel Treatment takes on an individualized approach. Following a free consultation with one of our BarBeauty providers, we will be able to determine the right approach for you, in other words which acid will work best for your skin needs.
Lactic Acid Peel
We offer 12 % – 20 % lactic acid peels, which we typically use on individuals with a delicate/dry skin type. Most patients will receive a 12% lactic acid peel for their first peel treatment.
Glycolic Acid Peel
We offer 20% – 40% glycolic acid peels. Glycolic acid peels are great for normal/maturing skin types as well as acne prone/oily skin types. Most patients will gradually move up in terms of the percentage of glycolic acid used for their peel treatments.
Salicylic Acid Peel
We offer 20%-30% salicylic acid peels. We find that the salicylic acid peel is most effective for individuals with active acne prone skin and more severe breakouts. We’ll typically start off with 20% for your first two peel treatments and then gradually move up to 30% for your following treatments.
All of these acids can be used for neck, décolleté and/or hand peel treatments as well. Though typically salicylic acid would not be used for a hand peel treatment. Interested in a peel treatment for other areas of the body? Check out our Miracle 10 Body Peel Treatments.
The Miracle 10 Peel Treatment
Our peel treatment is a 45 minute experience that will leave you relaxed and your skin revitalized. We aren’t simply applying a peel solution, removing it and setting you free. We’ll take careful stock of your skin’s current condition, and what concerns you have, and tailor our treatment to achieve the best results. We start by applying a few Miracle 10 products to prep the skin and then begin a dermaplaning session, which removes any debris and dead skin cells as well as the fine vellus hair sitting on the skin’s surface (no, it won’t grow back thicker, or we’d have a cure for baldness). Dermaplaning exfoliates the skin and allows any products you apply on top afterwards to be more effective. We’ll then apply the peel, and follow with an additional series of Miracle 10 products. Your skin will appear plump, glowing and rejuvenated.
Are there any side effects?
Depending on the strength of peel you have decided on with your BarBeauty provider, you may feel some stinging while the peel is on your skin. This will resolve when the peel is removed. Some individuals notice their skin is a bit pink or red immediately after, and this subsides quickly, within a few minutes to hours. Salicylic peels for very acne prone skin may cause some mild flaking and redness for a day or two following treatment.
Who should NOT have a chemical peel treatment?
You should avoid having a chemical peel treatment if you have been taking Accutane within the last 12 months, if you are pregnant, if you have any open wounds in the treatment area, if you have any infections, or if you have atopic dermatitis and psoriasis.
You should also avoid having a chemical peel treatment if you scar very easily, if you’ve been significantly exposed to the sun or had a sunburn in the two days prior, if you have recently undergone radiation for cancer treatment, or if you have had any kind of surgery, IPL or laser treatment in the area of the peel treatment a month prior. It’s always best to discuss your candidacy for the treatment, in person, with one of our medical aestheticians.
