Frequently Asked

Common questions

How do I book an appointment?+

Book online 24/7 at barbeautymedical.janeapp.com or call us at 416-923-1200 during business hours. Same-day appointments are often available.

Do you offer consultations?+

Yes, every consultation is complimentary. We never charge to talk through your goals, assess your skin, and recommend a plan. No commitment required.

What’s your cancellation policy?+

We ask for 24 hours notice for cancellations or reschedules, and there is no charge when you give it. We hold your appointment with a credit card and nothing is charged when you book. A no-show is charged $100, and a first missed appointment is usually forgiven and credited toward your next treatment. We understand life happens, just let us know as early as you can.

Do you offer financing?+

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex). For larger treatment packages such as thread lifts or Morpheus8, ask us about installment options at your consultation.

Do you accept insurance?+

We do not bill insurance directly, but we provide detailed receipts that can be submitted to your extended health plan for reimbursement. For Medical Botox treatments (TMJ, hyperhidrosis, chronic migraines), receipts include the DIN (Drug Identification Number) and diagnosis code your insurance provider will typically request. Confirm coverage details with your insurance company before your appointment.

Are your products and injectables authentic?+

Absolutely. All injectables are sourced directly from licensed Canadian suppliers (Allergan, Galderma, Merz). Skincare is sourced from authorized retailers (SkinCeuticals, NOON Aesthetics, Procell). We are happy to show product packaging at your appointment.

What should I do before and after my treatment?+

Specific pre and post-care instructions vary by treatment, but in general: avoid blood thinners and alcohol for 24-48 hours before injectables, and avoid sun, heat, and intense exercise for 24-48 hours after. Your provider will give you a detailed care sheet at your appointment.

Where are you located and do you have parking?+

We are at 46 Fort York Blvd, Toronto, ON M5V 3Z3. We have two free spots at the clinic, first come first served, so they are very limited. If both are taken, there is public parking beside the Sobeys at Fort York Blvd and Telegram Mews, a public lot that is not ours, so we do not validate it and rates are set by the operator. There is also street parking in the area. We are also a short walk from Union Station via the PATH and on the 509/510 streetcar lines.

Do you offer gift cards?+

Yes! Gift cards are available in any denomination, perfect for a thoughtful gift. Email info@barbeauty.ca or call us to purchase one.

Booking, rescheduling and the no-show fee

The Jane booking calendar is open 24 hours a day. Same-day slots open up more often than the online calendar suggests, particularly midweek, so it is worth calling 416-923-1200 even when the day you want looks full. We take walk-ins when the schedule allows. What we never do is place an injectable without a consultation first, either from a previous visit or on the day itself.

Confirmation texts go out 72 hours and 24 hours ahead, and a reminder arrives the morning of your appointment.

  • Cancel or move with 24 hours notice and there is no charge.
  • We hold the slot with a credit card. Nothing is charged when you book.
  • A no-show is charged $100.
  • A first missed appointment is usually forgiven and credited toward your next treatment.

Life happens. Tell us as early as you can and we will almost always work with you.

What a free consultation actually involves

Every consultation here is free, in clinic or virtual, and nothing obliges you to book treatment afterwards. You get a proper look at your skin, an honest read on what the treatment you came in asking about will and will not do, and a written quote before anything is opened. If a cheaper treatment suits you better, we will say so. If the honest answer is that nothing we offer will fix what is bothering you, we will say that too, and point you somewhere else.

Virtual consultations run 30 minutes on a PHIPA-compliant, Canadian-hosted video platform, and they are also free. We use them for patients travelling into Toronto, for anyone who wants to start the conversation before committing to a clinic visit, and as the standard six-week check-in on energy-device and biostimulator courses such as Morpheus8 and Sculptra.

New to this entirely? Our first-time guide to medical aesthetics in Toronto covers what to ask and what to watch for. You can also meet the people who will actually be treating you or look around the clinic before you come in.

How to get ready for your appointment

Before injectables, skip alcohol and blood-thinning supplements for 24 to 48 hours where your own physician has not told you otherwise. Never stop prescribed medication for a cosmetic appointment. Come with clean skin if you can, eat beforehand, and bring the name of anything that has been injected into your face previously, including roughly when and by whom. It genuinely changes what we recommend.

Before laser or energy work, avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for two weeks, and do not wax or pluck the area for four weeks if you are booked for laser hair removal. Shave the area the day before instead.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, tell us at booking rather than on the day. We have written about Botox during pregnancy specifically, and there is usually something safe we can do in the meantime.

Aftercare, by treatment

You leave with a written care sheet for whatever you had done. These are the longer versions, written by the people who treated you:

The rule that covers almost everything: no sun, no heat, no intense exercise for 24 to 48 hours. That includes saunas, hot yoga and long-haul flights.

If something does not look right

Most clinics do not publish this part. We would rather you had it in writing before you need it.

  • During opening hours, call 416-923-1200.
  • Outside hours, our voicemail gives you the after-hours number. It routes urgent post-procedure concerns straight to the on-call nurse, with escalation to the medical director where needed.
  • We define urgent broadly: sudden swelling, any change in skin colour at a filler site, fever, severe pain, or anything that simply does not feel right. We would far rather hear from you at 11pm about nothing than at 9am about something.
  • Non-urgent questions such as when you can exercise or wear makeup go into the morning email queue at info@barbeauty.ca.
  • For filler patients, hyaluronidase is stocked on site and our vascular occlusion protocol is posted in every treatment room, not filed in a binder.
  • If you cannot reach us and it feels urgent, go to the emergency department. If it proves to be treatment related, we reimburse the cost of the triage visit.

If you are unhappy with a result rather than worried about one, book a review appointment and bring your before photos. Filler can be dissolved, neuromodulator wears off on its own within three to four months, and most of what people dislike at week one has settled by week two. We would rather reassess you than have you sit with it.

Paying, financing and insurance receipts

We take Visa, Mastercard and Amex. For larger plans such as thread lifts, a Morpheus8 course or a multi-vial Sculptra series, Affirm lets you split the cost into monthly payments, and checking your rate does not affect the treatment plan we recommend.

We do not bill insurers directly. What we give you is an itemised receipt you can submit yourself. For medical neuromodulator treatment, which for us means hyperhidrosis, TMJ and jaw clenching, and chronic migraine, the receipt carries the DIN and the diagnosis code most extended health plans ask for. Confirm coverage with your own insurer before you book, because plans differ more than people expect.

Purely cosmetic treatment is not covered by OHIP and is generally not claimable against the CRA medical expense tax credit. Health spending accounts sometimes take medical neuromodulator work and rarely take cosmetic work. Current offers live on our promotions page, and gift cards are available in any amount.

Every price we charge is published. The full live menu is on the price list, and if you want to see how that compares across the city, we keep an honest Toronto price index.

Pricing table, Bar Beauty Medical 2026 transparency

Neuromodulator units are not the same size across brands. Roughly 2.5 to 3 Dysport units do the work of 1 Botox unit, so Dysport cannot be compared to Botox on a per-unit basis. You get a written quote for the treatment before anything is injected. Toronto Avg figures are market ranges for context, not quotes from named clinics.

How we source product, and how to check it for yourself

Every injectable we use comes from a licensed Canadian supplier: Allergan, Galderma, Merz, Prollenium, Vivacy and Teoxane. Skincare comes from authorised retail accounts, not a grey-market distributor. Ask to see the box. We will show you the packaging and the lot number before anything is opened, and we would much rather you asked than wondered.

Counterfeit injectables and diverted skincare are a real problem in this city, and the tell is almost always price. If a quote is below what the product costs a clinic at wholesale, something is wrong with the product, the injector, or both. We wrote a guide to checking whether your skincare is genuine for exactly this reason. The brands we stock are listed on the shop, and you are welcome to buy elsewhere; we would just rather you bought real product.

Your records, photos and privacy

Clinical records, intake forms and treatment photography are stored on PHIPA-compliant, Canadian-hosted infrastructure. Photographs are filed against your chart and nowhere else. They are never used in marketing without separate written consent, and they are permanently deleted on written request, no explanation required. We do not share patient data with third parties for advertising.

Our medical director is available for direct patient consultation by appointment and is reachable by your nurse during any treatment if a question comes up. The name is published on our team page and on your intake paperwork. If you are ever at a clinic where you cannot find out who the medical director is, treat that as the answer.

When we will tell you no

We turn work away most weeks. Some of the reasons:

  • Under 18 for any injectable, without exception. Under 25, we prefer a delayed start on filler. A lot of what people want corrected at 22 resolves with sun protection, sleep and a decent routine.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding rule out neuromodulator and filler here.
  • Active infection or active acne at the treatment site means we reschedule rather than inject through it.
  • Volume where volume is the wrong answer. Under-eye hollowing caused by fat pad descent rather than volume loss gets worse with filler, not better. We explain that on the tear trough page and we decline it in clinic.
  • Expectations a needle cannot meet. If what you are describing needs a surgeon, we say so and refer you to one.
  • Anyone who wants it done today because of a wedding on Saturday. Swelling has its own timeline and we will not gamble with your photos.

Being told no by a clinic that could easily have taken your money is the single most useful signal you will get about whether to trust it.

Still deciding what to book?

Three ways in, depending on how you think about it:

For anything about getting here, parking at Fort York, our hours or directions from your neighbourhood, the contact page has all of it.

Support questions we get most

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes. Bring a partner, a friend or a parent to any consultation. For treatment itself we ask that they wait in reception, purely because treatment rooms are small and sterile fields matter.

Will I see the same injector each time?

Where you want to, yes. Ask for them by name at booking and we will hold the slot around their calendar. Continuity genuinely produces better results with filler, because the person injecting remembers what they placed and where. You can see who is who on the team page.

Do I have to buy a package?

No. Everything on the price list can be booked as a single session. Packages exist because a course of Morpheus8 or laser hair removal works out cheaper per session than paying one at a time, not because we require them. Nobody here works on commission.

How do I get a receipt for my insurance?

Ask at checkout or email info@barbeauty.ca afterwards and we will send an itemised copy. Medical neuromodulator receipts include the DIN and diagnosis code.

What if I need to cancel at short notice?

Call as early as you can. Inside 24 hours we may waive the fee depending on the reason and the notice, and a first missed appointment is usually forgiven and credited toward your next visit.

Can I get treated on my lunch break?

Neuromodulator, yes, most appointments run 20 to 30 minutes and there is no visible downtime beyond possible pinpoint marks. Filler, energy devices and anything numbed with topical need longer, and you may be pink afterwards. Tell us at booking that you are heading back to work and we will plan around it.

Do you treat men?

Regularly, and across everything: masseter Botox, jawline definition, laser hair removal and Kybella are the usual reasons. Dosing differs, because male facial muscle mass differs.

What happens to my deposit if I reschedule?

Deposits, where a treatment requires one, move with the appointment. They are only lost on a no-show.

Do you do out-of-town or virtual follow-up?

Yes. Virtual consults and follow-ups are free and run 30 minutes on a Canadian-hosted, PHIPA-compliant platform. Patients travelling in from outside the GTA usually start there.

Ready to look into it properly?

Our consultation is free. We will look at your skin, give you an honest recommendation, and say so if a different treatment would suit you better.
