Our most-booked treatment by far. Sixty minutes designed around what your skin is actually doing today, not what worked last month. Cleanse, exfoliate, optional extractions, custom mask, serum, massage. Tell us your concern, we build the protocol live. No template, no upsells.

Ideal Treatment For

The Custom Facial is the ultimate personalized skincare experience, beginning with a thorough consultation and professional skin analysis to assess your unique concerns, whether they involve aging, acne, hyperpigmentation, or sensitivity. The ideal treatment is carefully tailored in every step, selecting specific professional-grade cleansers, enzyme or chemical exfoliants, and targeted extractions (if needed) to address your current skin condition. The core of the treatment integrates advanced modalities, which may include LED light therapy, microcurrent, or specialized serums, followed by a customized mask and a soothing facial massage to boost circulation and relaxation. The process culminates in the application of serums, moisturizers, and sun protection chosen specifically to meet your skin goals and establish an effective, results-driven home care regimen

How It Works

Each Custom Facial is designed to improve your skin’s health and appearance, leaving it refreshed and glowing. Treatment times range from 45 to 60 minutes, depending on your specific needs.

Investment: $150 – $350
Come experience a personalized facial and achieve your best skin yet!

The Custom Facial in Toronto is our most-booked treatment — a 60-minute bespoke skin protocol built from your skin condition on the day, not a fixed template. Cleanse, exfoliation, optional extractions, custom mask, targeted serums, facial massage, and SPF. At Bar Beauty in downtown Toronto we treat the Custom Facial as a planning visit as much as a treatment visit. 2026 pricing is $150 to $350 depending on add-ons and duration.

What the Custom Facial actually does

The Custom Facial differs from our specialized protocols (Extract and Decongest, Advanced Decongest, Aerolase Custom Facial) in one key way — it is built live based on what your skin is doing today. The first 10 minutes are a real skin analysis. We assess hydration, oil production, congestion, sensitivity, pigment, inflammation, barrier integrity, and recent treatment history. From that assessment, we build the protocol:

  1. Cleanse appropriate to skin type — gentle hydrating for dry/sensitive, gel-based salicylic for oily/congested, oil-based double cleanse for makeup removal first.
  2. Exfoliation chosen for skin status — enzyme for sensitive skin, lactic for hydration plus mild exfoliation, mandelic for darker skin tones, salicylic for oily/congested.
  3. Optional extractions if congestion is present and skin tolerance allows.
  4. Targeted treatment phase — LED, mask, serum infusion, or massage depending on goal.
  5. Mask chosen for the day — clay, hydrogel, sheet, or hydrojelly.
  6. Serum and moisturizer targeted to your concerns — niacinamide, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, peptides.
  7. SPF 30 or higher finish.

The Custom Facial is the right choice for patients whose skin shifts (hormonal cycle, seasonal change, stress), patients new to professional facials wanting a flexible introduction, and patients who use facials primarily for relaxation alongside skin maintenance.

How Custom Facial pricing compares in Toronto

The 2026 Toronto market for a custom medical facial ranges from $135 to $395. We sit at $150 to $350. The series of 5 brings effective per-session pricing to $169.

Five real patients we treated in 2025 and 2026

Patient example 1: Olivia, 27, downtown — first-time facial patient, seasonal skin shift

Olivia had clear skin but it shifted dramatically with seasonal changes. We built a quarterly Custom Facial schedule (4 × $195 = $780) with the protocol adjusted each visit. Year-one spend: $780.

Patient example 2: Megan, 35, Mississauga — hormonal-cycle acne and dryness

Megan had hormonal acne in the late luteal phase plus dryness in the early follicular phase. We built two Custom Facial profiles — a decongesting one for late cycle and a hydrating one for early cycle. Series of 5 ($845) across 5 months with profile selection at each visit. Total spend: $845.

Patient example 3: Frank, 42, Etobicoke — male client, low-maintenance routine

Frank wanted quarterly skin maintenance with minimal commitment. 4 × 45-minute Custom Facials ($600) per year. Year-one spend: $600.

Patient example 4: Anita, 51, Forest Hill — luxury monthly facial with full add-ons

Anita wanted a high-touch monthly experience. 12 Custom Facial Deluxe sessions ($4,200) per year with dermaplaning at 6 sessions and microcurrent at all 12. Year-one spend: approximately $4,950 with add-ons.

Patient example 5: Stephanie, 30, Vaughan — bridal series with monthly visits

Stephanie booked a 6-month bridal package using Custom Facial ($1,170) with peel add-on at sessions 2 and 4. Total spend: $1,410.

Custom Facial vs other facial options — how we decide

When we choose the Custom Facial

First option for patients whose skin shifts session to session, patients new to facials, patients wanting flexibility, and patients combining maintenance with relaxation.

When we choose Aerolase NeoSkin Custom Facial

For patients wanting laser plus facial in one visit. Adds significant treatment depth for pigment, redness, and acne.

When we choose Extract and Decongest or Advanced Decongest

For patients whose primary concern is congestion or active acne. More extraction-focused.

When we add the Noon 30 peel

For patients needing deeper exfoliation than enzyme or acid alone. Combined 75-minute session.

2025 to 2026 evolution — what changed in our Custom Facial

1. Skin analysis time formalized

Was informal in 2024. Now 10 minutes of structured analysis at the start of every Custom Facial.

2. Standardized photo documentation

Was optional in 2024. Now standard (with consent) at every visit for objective progress tracking.

3. Microcurrent add-on added

Microcurrent for mild lifting and toning was added as an add-on in 2025 in response to demand.

4. Reduced series sizes

Series of 5 with one free replaced the series of 6 standard. Better compliance.

5. Mandatory SPF at session end

Was optional in 2024; mandatory in 2026.

Red flags — when to walk out of a Custom Facial consultation

  • Identical “custom” protocol used for every patient. A real custom facial varies by skin status.
  • No skin analysis at session start. Custom requires assessment.
  • Heavy product upsell pressure. Recommendations should be honest, not high-pressure.
  • Practitioner refuses to defer extractions on inflamed skin. Extraction over active cysts increases scarring risk.
  • SPF skipped at session end. Post-treatment skin is sensitive.
  • No discussion of home-care between sessions. Facials work better when paired with consistent home routine.
  • Aggressive series-of-10 pre-pay without trial. First-time patients should pay for one session and see how their skin responds.

Hidden costs most clinics will not list upfront

Consultation fees

Some clinics charge $25 to $75. We do not.

Product trial samples vs full size

Trial samples should be free at the end of sessions. Full-size product purchases are optional and should not be pressured.

Add-on stacking

Adding dermaplaning, peel, LED, and microcurrent to one session climbs from $195 to $490.

Maintenance over 12 months

Monthly Custom Facial schedule runs approximately $1,800 to $4,200 in year one depending on duration and add-ons chosen.

Take-home skincare

Optional but accelerates results. Starter kits run $150 to $400.

Recovery — realistic day-by-day timeline

Day 0

Skin looks glowing immediately. Mild pinkness for 30 to 60 minutes if extractions performed.

Day 1

Skin feels hydrated and looks refreshed.

Days 2 to 7

Continued glow. Possible mild flaking if exfoliation was intense.

Week 4

Time for next session.

HSA, financing, and tax considerations

Health spending accounts

Custom Facial is cosmetic; some Group HSAs reimburse. Itemized receipts available.

Beautifi financing

Series of 5 ($845) can be split into 6 monthly payments — about $150 per month at 6 months.

CRA tax considerations

Pure cosmetic facials do not qualify for the medical expense tax credit.

Combining Custom Facial with other treatments

With Botox or filler

Different sessions. Schedule facial before injectables or wait 2 weeks after injectables for the facial.

With Noon 30 peel

Same-day combination possible.

With Morpheus 8

Different sessions and different weeks. Morpheus 8 has 2 to 3 days downtime.

With Aerolase Custom Facial

Alternate types every other session for compound effect.

What the Custom Facial will not do

  • Clear severe inflammatory acne. For that see Advanced Decongest or a dermatology referral.
  • Eliminate static deep wrinkles. Those need Botox, filler, or resurfacing.
  • Lift sagging skin. For tightening see Forma or Morpheus 8.
  • Substitute for daily home skincare. Adherence between sessions doubles results.
  • Replace SPF.

How we build a Custom Facial protocol — the planning framework

Every Custom Facial uses the same internal planning framework: identify the primary skin status today (oily, dry, balanced, inflamed, sensitive, congested, dehydrated), identify the patient’s primary goal for this visit (clarity, hydration, brightness, relaxation, event preparation), identify any contraindications (recent retinoid use, active infection, recent injectables in treated area, pregnancy), and then build the protocol from a library of cleansers, exfoliants, treatments, masks, and serums that fits both status and goal. This is why two patients booking the same “Custom Facial” service may receive entirely different treatments — the framework is consistent but the execution is bespoke. We document the protocol used at each visit in your file so subsequent visits can iterate intelligently rather than starting from scratch each time.

Skincare product partnerships

We carry several professional skincare lines that we use in-treatment and recommend for home care. The lines we work with are selected for clinical evidence of effect, ingredient transparency, and Canadian regulatory compliance. SkinCeuticals (vitamin C, sunscreens, retinols), ZO Skin Health (clinical-grade post-procedure protocols), Dermaceutic (peels and serums), and select boutique Canadian lines for specific indications. We do not require home product purchase to book a facial; we do find that adherence to a basic home regimen meaningfully improves outcomes over time.

Cancellation, late, and rescheduling policy

We require 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Same-day cancellations or no-shows are charged 50 percent of the session price. If you are running late, please call ahead. Sessions starting more than 15 minutes late may be shortened or rescheduled. Series and package treatments do not expire but unused sessions are not refundable.

The Custom Facial in Toronto is our most-booked treatment — a 60-minute bespoke skin protocol built from your skin condition on the day, not a fixed template. At Bar Beauty in downtown Toronto we treat the Custom Facial as a planning visit as much as a treatment visit. 2026 pricing is $150 to $350 depending on add-ons and duration.

Skin-type specific protocols within the Custom Facial

Oily and acne-prone skin

Salicylic gel cleanser, salicylic exfoliation at 1 to 2 percent, optional extractions if congestion is present, kaolin clay mask, niacinamide serum, light gel moisturizer, mineral SPF 30. Avoid heavy occlusive products and over-exfoliation.

Dry and dehydrated skin

Cream cleanser, lactic acid exfoliation, hyaluronic acid mask or hydrojelly, peptide serum, ceramide moisturizer, mineral SPF 30. Avoid foaming cleansers and salicylic acid.

Sensitive and reactive skin

Gentle non-foaming cleanser, enzyme exfoliation only, no extractions, calming hydrogel mask, niacinamide and centella asiatica serum, fragrance-free moisturizer, mineral SPF 30. Avoid retinoids, AHAs, BHAs in-treatment.

Combination skin

Zone-specific treatment. Salicylic in the T-zone, lactic on the cheeks. Targeted masking — clay in oily zones, hydrating in dry zones.

Mature skin with anti-aging goals

Cream cleanser, lactic or mandelic exfoliation, peptide and growth factor serums, mask chosen for hydration, microcurrent add-on for muscle tone, vitamin C serum, mineral SPF 50. Frequent maintenance facials work better than infrequent intensive treatments.

Darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV-VI)

Mandelic acid as primary exfoliant (lower irritation than glycolic), gentle extractions when needed, niacinamide and azelaic acid for tone evening, daily SPF non-negotiable. Avoid aggressive AHAs and high-strength salicylic.

What to expect at your first Custom Facial visit

Arrive 10 minutes early to complete intake paperwork including medical history, current skincare regimen, allergies, recent cosmetic procedures, and skin concerns. The practitioner will do a 10-minute skin analysis under good light using a magnifying lamp and possibly a Visia imaging device. We document baseline photographs with your consent. The treatment runs 45 to 90 minutes depending on protocol chosen. At the end we discuss what we did, why, what to expect over the next two weeks, and what home care will support the result. You will leave with written aftercare notes and a recommended interval for your next visit.
