Google ratings will not help you here. Every studio on this list sits between 4.9 and 5.0. That is a tie, and a tie is not information. Review volume varies more usefully, from 46 to 384, though several of those listings are salon-wide and dominated by lash and brow clients rather than lip blush specifically.

Four things genuinely separate providers, and only one of them appears on a price list.

1. Healed portfolio on skin like yours

Fresh lips look dramatic for about a week and then change completely. Any artist can post a photo taken ten minutes after the machine goes down. Healed work, photographed at six weeks or later, is the only evidence of what you will actually live with, and it is the single most useful thing you can ask for.

Ask specifically for healed results on your skin tone and your lip type. This is not a formality. The healed colour is the pigment filtered through the tone already in your lip, so the same bottle lands differently on a cool undertone than a warm one, differently again on a lip with natural melanin, and differently once more on a lip carrying old pigment or years of filler. Every single studio on this list, ours included, raises cold sores in their pre-care instructions, and every one of them tells you to arrange the prescription yourself with your own doctor. One states plainly on its own site that it cannot prescribe for you. Neither can we, and neither can any of the others.

So this is not a point of difference between providers. It is a thing you have to organise yourself wherever you book, and the studios that tell you so directly are doing you a favour. What varies is how early they raise it. Ask at the consultation rather than the week of, because prophylaxis needs to start before the appointment, and if you cannot get in to see your doctor quickly the alternative is postponing.

Worth knowing while you are reading pre-care pages: cold sore prophylaxis is an antiviral, not an antibiotic. Antibiotics do nothing to a virus. If a pre-care sheet tells you to ask your doctor for an antibiotic, that is a good prompt to ask more questions wherever you book.

3. Whether they can sequence lip blush with filler

If you have lip filler, or think you might want it, the order matters and there is a required gap.

Filler goes first, then lip blush, with four to six weeks in between. Hyaluronic acid takes that long to fully settle, and a lip blush maps pigment permanently along a border based on the shape present on the day it is tattooed. Tattoo a lip that has not finished settling and the pigment may not line up with the final shape. Separately, running both inside one window asks the same tissue to manage two overlapping inflammatory healing processes, which makes pigment retention less predictable.

Things that should make you pause
