Restylane in Toronto: What It Is, and Why Bar Beauty Medical Carries Vivacy Stylage Instead
By Basil Russo, Founder, Bar Beauty Medical, 46 Fort York Blvd, CityPlace Toronto. Clinically reviewed by Shahram Mafazi (IMG, PDD), senior aesthetic injector and trainer.
Short version: Restylane is a Galderma hyaluronic acid (HA) filler family. We do not carry it. For HA face filler at Bar Beauty Medical we use the full Vivacy Stylage range (S, M, L, XL, XXL, plus Special Lips), with Revanesse for entry-priced lip work, Teosyal Redensity 2 for the under-eye, Teosyal Redensity 1 as a skin booster, and Sculptra and Radiesse as biostimulators for structure. This page explains what Restylane is, what each of its products is designed for, and exactly which product we reach for in its place.
If you searched “Restylane Toronto,” you probably want a smoother lip, a lifted cheek, a softer under-eye, or a sharper jaw, and you have heard one brand name. The brand on the box matters far less than the hands holding the syringe and the plan behind the placement. So here is the honest comparison.

What Restylane is
Restylane is one of the oldest and most studied HA filler families in the world, made by Galderma and in clinical use since the late 1990s. It is built on two technologies: NASHA, a firmer, more structured gel for lift and projection, and OBT (Optimal Balance Technology), a softer, more flexible gel for areas that move. The line includes Kysse for lips, Lyft for cheeks and structure, Defyne and Refyne for folds, Eyelight for the under-eye, Volyme for soft volume, classic Restylane-L, and Skinboosters for skin quality. It is a strong family of fillers. It is simply not the one we built our menu around.
Why we carry Vivacy Stylage instead
Stylage is a French HA filler line made by Vivacy. It uses IPN-Like (Interpenetrated Polymer Network) cross-linking, which produces a smooth, cohesive gel with slower water absorption than older methods, and it is stabilized with mannitol, a natural antioxidant that protects the gel from free-radical degradation after it is placed. Two things made it our HA filler of choice. First, the full Stylage range runs from S (the thinnest) to XXL (the densest), plus a dedicated Special Lips product, so we can match the exact gel to the exact anatomy rather than forcing one product to do several jobs. Second, the mannitol stabilization and smooth IPN-Like gel suit the natural, conservative results our patients want. For the under-eye specifically we use Teosyal Redensity 2, a Teoxane HA filler made for the tear trough, and for skin quality we use Teosyal Redensity 1 and Revanesse skin boosters.

The Vivacy Stylage range by size, and what each one does
Choosing the right Stylage is mostly about anatomy, not preference. Here is how we use each one.
- Stylage S: very soft, low density. Fine lines around the mouth, small and subtle lip enhancement, and the under-eye when a soft, low-water-binding HA is needed. It lays flat under thin skin without the bluish Tyndall effect.
- Stylage M: medium density, the balance product and the most-used size. Moderate wrinkles, lip volume with more projection than S, and nasolabial folds.
- Stylage L: thicker, for structural correction. Deep wrinkles, cheek enhancement, jawline support, and volume restoration after age-related fat-pad descent. Placed deeper, on bone or in the deep dermis.
- Stylage XL: high-volume sculpting product. Significant volume loss, cheekbone projection, and chin augmentation.
- Stylage XXL: the densest gel, for deep structural volume where maximum lift and projection are the goal.
- Stylage Special Lips: the lip-specific product, formulated for natural movement, definition, and comfortable feel.
Filler by treatment area
Lips
Lip work is about proportion, border definition, and hydration, not maximum volume. We use Stylage Special Lips or Stylage M, or Revanesse for entry-priced work, usually half a syringe to one syringe for a natural result. Expect one to three days of swelling and your true result at two weeks. Lip filler typically lasts nine to twelve months because the mouth moves constantly. Full detail on our lip filler in Toronto page.
Cheeks and mid-face
Restore support at the cheek and the whole lower face reframes. We use Stylage L or XL for direct structural lift, or Sculptra when a patient prefers a gradual, collagen-built change. Cheek results often last twelve to eighteen months or more.
Under-eye and tear trough
This is the area we are strictest about. Thin skin, delicate anatomy, and important vessels mean the wrong product or depth shows immediately as puffiness or a bluish tint. We use Teosyal Redensity 2, a Teoxane HA filler made specifically for the under-eye, with Stylage S as an alternative when a softer, lighter gel suits the anatomy, placed deep and conservatively and only in candidates whose hollowing is the right type for filler.
Chin and jawline
For a stronger chin and a sharper jaw, we use Stylage XL where an HA suits the plan, and Radiesse or Sculptra when the goal is hard, durable projection. A defined jaw also balances the lower face after masseter Botox. See jawline contouring.
Folds and lines around the mouth
Nasolabial folds and marionette lines respond to a mix of direct fill and upstream cheek support. Stylage M or L are our usual choices, often combined with cheek work so we treat the cause, not just the crease.
Is Stylage as good as Restylane?
Neither is better in the abstract. Both are reversible HA fillers with strong safety records and overlapping duration ranges of roughly nine to twenty-four months depending on product and area. Restylane has the longer global track record and more published studies behind individual products. Stylage offers a complete size range and mannitol-stabilized, smooth IPN-Like gels that we find integrate beautifully and give natural, conservative results. Experienced injectors choose by anatomy and patient, not by brand loyalty. Anyone who tells you one brand is universally superior is selling, not assessing.
If you specifically want Restylane, here is honest advice
Several reputable Toronto clinics carry the Restylane family. We are glad to refer when you have a real reason to want it: prior Restylane results you loved, existing work you want maintained with the same product, or a specific product you have researched and prefer. HA on HA layering is fine, so if you had Restylane elsewhere we can maintain your result with Stylage, and we always dissolve old, migrated, or overfilled filler first. The right filler for you is the one your injector knows cold, used in the area it was built for, at the correct depth and dose.
What HA filler costs at Bar Beauty Medical
We publish real prices, not “starting from” bait. HA filler begins around $500 per syringe with Revanesse and runs through the Stylage range depending on the area and product. Lip filler starts at $500. Tear trough runs roughly $800 to $1,200 bilateral with Teosyal Redensity 2. Cheek and jawline work uses Stylage L or XL or a biostimulator depending on the projection goal, quoted per area at your consult. The full, live menu is on our price list, and consults are always free with a written quote.
What a filler appointment is like, and who injects
Every treatment starts with a free consult, about twenty minutes, where we assess your face at rest and in motion, talk through what is actually driving the concern, and give you a written quote with no pressure to book that day. If you proceed, we cleanse and apply topical numbing, and the Stylage gels also contain lidocaine. We use a needle or a blunt cannula depending on the area, since cannulas reduce bruising and vascular risk in zones like the cheeks and tear trough.
Shahram Mafazi, our senior aesthetic injector and trainer (twenty-plus years, IMG, PDD from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland), and Jasmine Saggu, our board-certified nurse injector, perform our filler treatments under the standing orders of medical director Dr. John David Henneberry-Fudge, MD FRCPC (CPSO #95972). Injectables carry real if rare risks, the most serious being vascular occlusion, and the protections against it are anatomy knowledge, conservative technique, cannula use where appropriate, and immediate access to hyaluronidase, the enzyme that dissolves HA filler, which we keep on site.
Frequently asked questions
Does Bar Beauty Medical carry Restylane?
No. We use Vivacy Stylage for HA face filler, Revanesse for entry-priced lip work, Teosyal Redensity 2 for the under-eye and Redensity 1 as a booster, and Sculptra and Radiesse as biostimulators.
Why Stylage instead of Restylane?
A product-fit decision. The full Stylage size range lets us match gel to anatomy precisely, and the mannitol-stabilized IPN-Like gel gives the smooth, natural results we want. It is not a quality judgment on Restylane.
I had Restylane before. Can you maintain it with Stylage?
Yes. HA on HA layering is fine. If old filler has migrated or you were overfilled, we dissolve first, then rebuild with Stylage.
Is Stylage reversible like Restylane?
Yes. Both are hyaluronic acid and dissolve with hyaluronidase, which we keep on site.
How long will my filler last?
Roughly nine to twelve months in lips and other mobile areas, and twelve to eighteen months or more in cheeks and structural zones, depending on the product, the area, and your metabolism.
Where can I get Restylane in Toronto?
Several established med spas and dermatology clinics carry it. Choose one with a licensed injector who treats your target area regularly and publishes pricing.
