Thread lifts are not for everyone. Here's the honest screening we use to decide if you'll benefit.
The ideal candidate
Patients with mild to moderate skin laxity in the mid-face, jawline, brow, or neck. Visible early jowling, softening jaw definition, mid-face descent (cheek volume falling), or brow drop. Skin still has reasonable elasticity — meaning when you pinch and release, it returns to position fairly quickly. Generally ages 35 to 60, though there are exceptions both directions.
Who’s NOT a candidate
Significant excess skin — patients who would benefit from a surgical facelift. Threads can’t lift what surgery is required for. We refer out honestly when this is the case.
Very thin or very thick skin — extremely thin skin shows thread shadows; very thick skin doesn’t respond to thread lift mechanics well. Mid-range skin types respond best.
Active skin infection or inflammation — wait until the area is calm.
Pregnancy or breastfeeding — wait.
Bleeding disorders or anticoagulant medications — risk of significant bruising or hematoma.
Body dysmorphia or unrealistic expectations — we screen at consultation.
What threads can’t do
Threads don’t add volume. If your face has lost volume (sagging cheeks from weight loss or aging), you need filler or biostimulators like Sculptra alongside or instead of threads.
Threads don’t improve skin quality much on their own. Combining with Aerolase or Morpheus 8 handles tone and texture; threads handle structure.
The consultation process
We physically assess your skin elasticity, evaluate the underlying volume situation, and discuss your goals candidly. If threads are right for you, we map out a plan. If not, we recommend the alternative that actually fits.
Combination with other treatments
Threads pair beautifully with Botox for full mid- and lower-face refresh. Add cheek filler for volume support and you have a complete non-surgical lift program.
