Most people who search for skin tightening are describing one of three different problems: skin that has lost its snap, tissue that has slid downward, or a pocket of fat with loose skin over it. Is skin tightening even the right category for you?
This is the first thing we settle at the consult, because three different problems get filed under “loose skin” and only one of them is truly a tightening job.
Laxity is skin that has lost elasticity. Pinch the skin on your cheek or the back of your hand and watch how fast it settles. If it drifts back slowly and looks a little crepey, that is laxity, and it is what radiofrequency tightening is built for. Forma, the Venus applicator, BodyFX and Morpheus8 all work here.
Descent is tissue that has slid, not stretched. Jowls forming along the jaw, a fold deepening beside the mouth, a neck that has gone soft under the chin. Heat helps at the edges, but descended tissue needs to be either repositioned, which is what threads do, or supported from above, which is what cheek filler and jawline work do. Fat with loose skin over it is the most common body case. A lower abdomen after pregnancy or weight loss, flanks, inner thighs. Tightening the skin over a fat pocket disappoints, because the pocket is still there. That is why our body plans usually pair the Venus Bliss diode laser, which reduces the fat, with a radiofrequency applicator that tightens the skin afterwards. If your problem is the second or third kind, the rest of this page still applies, but the tightening device will be one part of the plan rather than the plan.
How non-surgical skin tightening actually works
Every tightening device we run does the same basic thing: it heats the deeper layer of the skin, the dermis, to a therapeutic temperature and holds it there long enough to matter. Two things follow. Existing collagen fibres contract when heated, which gives the small, immediate firmness people notice on the day. More importantly, the controlled injury triggers a repair response, and over the following eight to twelve weeks your fibroblasts lay down new collagen and elastin. That second effect is the real product, which is why every tightening treatment looks unremarkable at week one and better at month three, and why we photograph at ninety days rather than on the day.
The devices differ in how they deliver the heat. Forma passes bipolar radiofrequency between two electrodes on a handpiece that glides over the skin, so it is comfortable, needle-free and suited to the face. The Venus Bliss applicator combines multi-polar radiofrequency with pulsed electromagnetic fields, over larger body areas. BodyFX adds vacuum and pulsed suction to the radiofrequency, which pulls the tissue into the applicator so the heat reaches deeper and the massaging action softens the look of cellulite. Morpheus8 is different in kind: it delivers the radiofrequency through fine microneedles at a set depth, so the heat goes exactly where laxity lives rather than diffusing down from the surface. That precision is why Morpheus8 outperforms surface devices on established laxity, and also why it carries a day or two of redness and a higher price.
One honest clarification about the phrase “laser skin tightening”, because a lot of people search for it. Almost every non-surgical tightening device in Toronto, including ours, is radiofrequency, not laser. Lasers target colour, pigment and blood, and the laser we run for skin quality, the Aerolase Neo Elite, improves texture and tone rather than laxity. The one laser in our tightening plans, the Venus Bliss diode, is a fat-reduction laser, not a skin tightener. If a clinic tells you a laser will tighten your skin, ask which layer it heats and how.
We also do not run ultrasound tightening, meaning Ultherapy, Sofwave or HIFU. If ultrasound is what you have decided you want, we will tell you that at the consult and you will not be sold something else.
The four tools, and when we reach for each
Forma, the face and neck default
Forma is the gentlest device we own and the one we reach for first on the face. It suits early laxity along the jawline, softening under the chin, crepey skin on the neck, and the area around the eyes. The skin surface is held at a therapeutic temperature in the low forties Celsius for the length of the session. Sessions take about thirty minutes, feel like a warm stone massage, and leave nothing behind, so people book them at lunch. The trade for that comfort is subtlety: results are gradual and cumulative, which is why we plan a course of six sessions, sometimes eight, spaced a week or two apart, and then a maintenance visit every four to six months. At $280 a session, a six-session course is $1,680. If you want a single session to see how it feels, that is fine, but judge the treatment on the course, not the preview.
Venus Bliss, the body default
The Venus Bliss platform carries two applicators, and it matters which one you are booking. The diode laser applicators reduce fat and are booked as Fat Reduction at $250. The radiofrequency applicator, which combines multi-polar radiofrequency with pulsed electromagnetic fields, tightens skin, improves texture and defines the treated area, and is booked as Body Contouring at $250. Booked together in one 105-minute visit, the pair is $350. On the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms and glutes the combination is usually the right order: reduce the pocket, then tighten the skin over it. Sessions are planned as a series and confirmed at the consult once we have measured the area.
BodyFX, loose body skin and cellulite
BodyFX is InMode’s body applicator. It combines radiofrequency heat with vacuum and pulsed suction, so it does two things at once: the heat remodels collagen in loose, crepey skin, and the suction lifts and massages the tissue, which softens the dimpled look of cellulite. It is a series treatment with sessions one to two weeks apart, there is no downtime beyond a warm, pink area for a few hours, and the change arrives over the following weeks as collagen builds. BodyFX is quoted at the consultation rather than listed at a flat rate, because a lower abdomen and a pair of thighs are very different amounts of work. Morpheus8, when laxity needs depth
Morpheus8 is what we recommend when the surface devices will not be enough: established jowling, a neck that has gone crepey and loose rather than just soft, or skin quality problems layered on top of laxity, such as acne scarring or rough texture. The microneedles carry radiofrequency to a set depth, which is why it can remodel tissue that Forma only warms. The course is three sessions, four to six weeks apart, with the result judged at ninety days and holding for roughly twelve to eighteen months before a maintenance session is worth booking. Expect redness and a faint grid texture for a day or two. Pricing is by zone: the neck is $600, the face $900, and the face and neck together $1,400, with the three-session course quoted in writing at the consult. When heat is not the answer: collagen stimulators and threads
Some skin is loose because the structure under it has thinned, and no amount of surface heating rebuilds that. This is where the injectable side of the clinic comes in, and it is worth knowing the options so nobody sells you a sixth Forma session when you needed a different tool.
Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid, a biostimulator that sets off a slow collagen response along the plane where it is placed. It goes into the deeper support of the face, the mid face and temples, the outer jawline, the decolletage and the backs of the hands, and it builds over three to six months into a result that typically lasts eighteen to twenty-four months. Most faces need two to four vials across a course, at $900 a vial or $1,700 for two, and the Sculptra cost page shows how a plan is priced.
Radiesse is calcium hydroxylapatite. Used diluted, it is our collagen-stimulating option for a crepey neck and decolletage, at $900 a syringe, and it is the product we use for the backs of the hands. Our Sculptra versus Radiesse guide explains when we pick one over the other.
Aptos threads are the tool for descent rather than laxity. Absorbable sutures reposition the tissue on the day, then dissolve over about six months while the collagen they stimulate carries the result. The Aptos neck lift and full face lift are $3,500 each, and the Silhouette thread face lift is $3,200. Expect about a week of bruising, and read the candidacy guide before you book, because threads on the wrong face are a waste.
For the neck specifically, there is one more piece: platysmal bands, the vertical cords that pull the jawline down, respond to Botox rather than to any device, which is the Nefertiti lift. A full non-surgical neck plan often sequences the bands first, then tightening, then structure.

Skin tightening after weight loss, including GLP-1 medications
If you have lost a significant amount of weight, often on semaglutide or tirzepatide, you may be looking at a face or a body that deflated faster than the skin could follow. Two honest points. First, the amount of laxity matters more than the cause. Mild to moderate loss of elasticity on the face, neck, arms and abdomen responds well to a Morpheus8 course, with Forma or the body applicators as maintenance, and Sculptra rebuilds the mid-face support that weight loss hollows out. Second, once skin has become genuinely redundant, meaning you can gather a fold of it in your hand, no non-surgical device will take that fold away, and we will say so and refer you to a plastic surgeon rather than book a series that cannot deliver. We would rather lose the booking than the trust.
Timing also matters. Tightening works best once your weight has been stable for a few months, because remaining fat cells enlarge again with regain and collagen you have paid for is easier to keep on a stable frame.
What skin tightening costs in Toronto, and how a plan is priced
At Bar Beauty Medical the per-session prices are the ones in the table above: $250 for the Venus Bliss applicator, $280 for Forma, $600 to $1,400 for a Morpheus8 zone, $900 a vial or syringe for the collagen stimulators, and $3,200 to $3,500 for a thread lift. Those figures are read from our live booking system and are the same number you will see when you book online, which is not always true of the prices on Toronto clinic websites.
Three things decide the total. The device: surface radiofrequency is cheap per visit but needs a course, Morpheus8 costs more per visit and needs fewer. The area: a jawline is a fraction of an abdomen, which is why body work is quoted after we have measured you rather than from a template. And the plan: a face with early laxity and a face with jowls and a crepey neck can both be described as “skin tightening” and cost several thousand dollars apart. You get all of this in writing at the free consult, with the number of sessions and the total, before anything is booked. Courses are quoted as a package at the consult, and Affirm financing is available.
What tightening will not do
It will not replace a facelift or a tummy tuck once laxity has become redundancy. It will not remove fat, which is why body plans start with the diode laser. It will not lift jowls that have already descended, which is filler, threads and Botox territory before it is device territory. It will not give a dramatic change on the day; the result is built over three months by your own collagen, and anyone promising otherwise is describing the temporary swelling. And it will not hold forever without maintenance, which for Forma means a visit every four to six months and for Morpheus8 a session every year to eighteen months. If you read that list and think the treatment is smaller than you hoped, good, that is the point of publishing it.
Safety, skin tones, and who performs your treatment
Radiofrequency heats tissue by electrical resistance rather than by light absorbed by pigment. That is why Forma, the Venus applicator, BodyFX and Morpheus8 are used across Fitzpatrick I to VI, including the deeper skin tones where light-based devices carry a pigment risk. The Venus Bliss diode laser is the exception, and because it is a fat device rather than a tightening device it is assessed separately at the consult. Contraindications we screen for at every tightening consult include pregnancy, an implanted electronic device such as a pacemaker, metal implants in the treatment area, active skin infection, and a recent isotretinoin course.

Health Canada licensing, checked against the register
Every tightening device on this page is a Class III medical device licensed for sale in Canada, and we checked the Medical Devices Active Licence Listing on 19 September 2026 rather than taking the manufacturer’s word for it. Forma, BodyFX and Morpheus8 all appear by name on InMode Ltd. licence 100376, the InMode System licence, active since 16 January 2018, with Morpheus8 and its tips added to it on 22 November 2022. Venus Bliss holds its own licence, 103608, issued to Venus Concept Inc. on 19 September 2019, and the register lists both of its applicators, the body laser applicator and the MP2 radiofrequency applicator, on that licence. Sculptra is licence 71658 and Radiesse is 78893 and 95140. A licence number tells you the device can lawfully be sold and used in Canada; it does not describe what the device is indicated to treat, so we do not quote Canadian indications from it. What is the best treatment for skin tightening?
There is no single best one, because “loose skin” describes three different problems. For mild to moderate laxity on the face and neck, radiofrequency microneedling, which is Morpheus8 at our clinic, gives the most change per session, and Forma gives a gentler, needle-free version of the same effect over a course. For the body, a radiofrequency applicator such as the Venus Bliss contouring handpiece or BodyFX, usually after fat reduction. For tissue that has descended rather than loosened, threads and structural filler outperform any heating device. The right answer comes from a pinch test and a look at where the tissue has moved, which is what the free consult is for.
Do skin tightening treatments actually work?
Yes, within limits. Radiofrequency reliably contracts existing collagen and stimulates new collagen and elastin over eight to twelve weeks, and the change is visible in photographs at three months for most people with mild to moderate laxity. They do not work on skin that has become redundant, they do not remove fat, and they do not lift descended tissue. Clinics that promise a surgical-looking result from a non-surgical device are overselling, and we would rather set the expectation low and beat it.

How many sessions of skin tightening do I need?
Forma is a course of six, sometimes eight, a week or two apart. Morpheus8 is three sessions, four to six weeks apart. The Venus Bliss and BodyFX body applicators are planned as a series after the area is measured, with sessions one to two weeks apart. Sculptra is two to four vials over one or two visits. A thread lift is a single procedure. In every case the collagen keeps building for months after the last session, so the number of sessions is about dose, not about when you will see the result.
Does skin tightening hurt?
Forma and the Venus Bliss applicator feel like a hot stone massage and need no numbing. BodyFX adds a pulling sensation from the vacuum. Morpheus8 involves needles and is the one people ask about most, so we wrote a separate guide to what it actually feels like. Threads are done with local anaesthetic. Nothing on this page needs sedation or time off work beyond the day or two of redness after Morpheus8 and the week of bruising after threads.
How long do skin tightening results last?
A Forma course is maintained with a session every four to six months. A Morpheus8 series typically holds for twelve to eighteen months before a maintenance session is worth booking. Sculptra results run eighteen to twenty-four months and often longer. A thread lift holds for a year to two years depending on the thread type and the face, and the collagen it stimulated carries on after the threads have dissolved. Sun protection, a stable weight and not smoking extend all of them, because they are results made of your own collagen and collagen ages at the rate you let it.
Is radiofrequency skin tightening safe for darker skin?
Yes. Radiofrequency does not target pigment, so Forma, Morpheus8, BodyFX and the Venus Bliss radiofrequency applicator are used across all six Fitzpatrick skin types. The caution on darker skin applies to light-based devices such as IPL and some lasers, which is a different mechanism. We still assess every skin type at the consult and set the treatment to your skin rather than to a template.
Can I tighten skin after weight loss or Ozempic?
Mild to moderate laxity after weight loss responds well to a Morpheus8 course with Forma or a body applicator as maintenance, and Sculptra restores the mid-face support that rapid weight loss removes. Skin that has become genuinely redundant, a fold you can hold in your hand, is a surgical problem, and we will say so at the consult and refer you rather than book a series that cannot deliver. Wait until your weight has been stable for a few months before starting.
Which is better for the face, Forma or Morpheus8?
Forma if the laxity is early, you want no downtime, and you are happy to build the result over six sessions. Morpheus8 if the laxity is established, you also want texture or scarring addressed, and you can accept a day or two of redness for a bigger change in three sessions. Can skin tightening be combined with Botox or filler?
Yes, and on the lower face it usually should be. Masseter Botox and platysmal band Botox change the pull on the jawline and neck, cheek and jawline filler restore the structure that loose skin was resting on, and radiofrequency tightens what is left. We sequence them rather than doing everything on one day, so each result can be judged on its own, and the jowls guide shows the order we use on the lower face.
Who should not have skin tightening?
Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, anyone with an implanted electronic device such as a pacemaker or defibrillator, anyone with metal implants in the treatment area, active infection or inflammatory skin disease on the area, or a recent course of isotretinoin. People with skin that has become redundant rather than lax are better served by a surgical consult, and we will say so.
