If you have ever found SkinCeuticals or skinbetter science online for noticeably less than a clinic charges, it is worth asking why. Sometimes the answer is a genuine sale. Often it is not.
We stock these brands because we use them on patients every day, so we care about where they come from. Here is how the professional skincare supply chain actually works, and how to check what you are buying.
Why these brands restrict who can sell them
SkinCeuticals, skinbetter science and NOON Aesthetics are professional brands. They are not sold the way a drugstore moisturiser is sold. Each one limits distribution to trained clinics and authorized professional accounts, and they do it for a practical reason: these are active formulations. L-ascorbic acid oxidises. Retinoids degrade with heat and light. A serum that sat in a hot warehouse for a year is not the same product that left the lab, even if the bottle looks identical.
skinbetter science is the strictest of the three. It is sold only through authorized aesthetic professionals, and you have to be registered with an Authorized Physician Partner even to buy from skinbetter’s own website. Any general online store selling it is, by the brand’s own definition, outside that channel.
What “diverted” means
Diverted is SkinCeuticals’ own word for stock that ends up outside authorized channels. It might have been bought in bulk somewhere cheap and resold, or acquired through an account that was never meant to resell it. The brand’s position is blunt: product bought this way can be counterfeit, diluted, or expired, and they will not stand behind it.
That is the part people miss. The risk is not only a fake bottle. It is a real bottle that has been stored badly, is close to expiry, or has already lost potency. You would not know until it does not work.
Six things worth checking before you buy
- Is it sold without the box? Listings that say “no box” are a red flag. The carton carries the batch code and expiry. Without it there is no way to trace the product or verify its age.
- Is the price far below everyone else? A few dollars is normal competition. Thirty or forty below every clinic in the country usually means the stock did not come through the front door.
- Is the seller priced in US dollars? A US listing converted for Canadian buyers is shipping outside the Canadian distribution agreement.
- Is there a real clinic behind the store? For these brands, an authorized seller is almost always a practice with professionals on staff, not a standalone web shop.
- Can you find them on the brand’s authorized retailer list? SkinCeuticals and skinbetter both publish one. If a seller is not on it, they are not authorized, whatever their website says.
- Does the seal look right? Check the batch code is printed cleanly and matches between box and bottle, and that any safety seal is intact.

Our SkinCeuticals and skinbetter science stock is bought directly through L’Oreal’s Canadian professional partner account. Our NOON Aesthetics stock comes directly from DermaSpark, NOON’s Canadian distributor. Nothing is bought from a third party, a marketplace, or a liquidator.
It is delivered to the clinic at 46 Fort York Blvd and stays there, in a climate-controlled treatment space, not a warehouse or a garage. When you buy from us you can collect it in person the same day, or we ship it. Either way it has been in exactly two places: the distributor and our clinic.
If something is ever wrong with a product you bought from us, we can trace it and the brand will stand behind it. That is the practical difference between authorized and not.
Frequently asked questions
Is cheaper SkinCeuticals always fake?
No. Authorized retailers do run promotions, and sizes differ, so a 15ml travel size will always look cheaper than a 30ml bottle. The concern is a large, permanent discount on the standard size from a seller you cannot verify.
How can I check a batch code?
The batch code is printed on the carton and stamped on the bottle. They should match. If you have bought something elsewhere and want a second opinion, bring it in and we will look at it with you. No purchase necessary.
Does buying from an unauthorized seller void anything?
Brands generally will not honour guarantees on product bought outside authorized channels, because they cannot verify how it was handled. You are also unlikely to get help from the seller if the formula has turned.
Do you price match?
We price at the brand’s recommended retail, and we publish every price on the site rather than making you ask. We will not match a listing we cannot verify came through a legitimate channel, because matching it would mean competing on something we are not willing to sell.
Can I see the products before buying?
Yes. Everything we sell online is physically on the shelf at the clinic. You are welcome to come in, look at it, and ask what would actually suit your skin before spending anything.
