East York Medical Aesthetics: twenty minutes down the Don, and four different jobs called filler

East York is close. From Pape and Danforth to 46 Fort York Blvd is 20 to 30 minutes off peak, either down the Don Valley Parkway to the Gardiner or across on Line 2 to Bloor-Yonge, down Line 1 to Union and west on the 509 Harbourfront streetcar. The 504 King streetcar from Broadview Station will also do it in one vehicle if you would rather not go underground. Distance is not the interesting question here.

The interesting question is what people mean when they search from East York, and by a wide margin the answer is dermal filler. So the useful thing this page can do is separate out the four different jobs that one word is being asked to cover, because the area of the face decides the product far more than the brand does.

Why the area decides more than the brand

A lip needs a soft gel that moves when you speak. A jawline needs something that holds an edge against the pull of the skin over it. A tear trough needs the least product of anywhere on the face and the most caution, because the skin there is thin enough to show everything underneath it. Those are three different physical problems, and no single product is the right answer to all three. When a quote leads with a brand and does not say which area, which depth and how much, it has not told you what you are buying.

What we stock is Stylage from Vivacy, Revanesse from Prollenium, Teosyal Redensity 1 and Redensity 2 from Teoxane, plus Sculptra and Radiesse. Our lip work runs on Revanesse. We do not carry Juvederm or Restylane, and we would rather say that than let you find out at the chair.

Getting here from East York

By car, the Don Valley Parkway southbound to the Gardiner westbound, off at Rees Street or Spadina Avenue. From Leaside, Bayview Avenue south is often quicker than joining the DVP at Millwood. From the Danforth, Broadview Avenue down to Eastern and across is the local route when the DVP is stopped, which in East York you can usually see before you commit to it.

By transit, Line 2 from Broadview, Chester, Pape, Donlands, Greenwood or Coxwell to Bloor-Yonge, Line 1 south to Union, then the 509 west. Or the 504 King from Broadview Station straight through to Bathurst and a short walk south. One fare either way, because East York is inside Toronto.

We have two free spots at the clinic, first come first served, so they are very limited. If both are taken, there is public parking beside the Sobeys at Fort York Blvd and Telegram Mews, a public lot that is not ours, so we do not validate it and rates are set by the operator. There is also street parking in the area.

What else East York books

• Botox. $10 a unit, quoted in units rather than by area. Dysport and Nuceiva are quoted at the consult.
• Lip filler. $750 for a full syringe, $500 for the half-syringe Signature Mini Lip Plump, $750 for the Russian technique.
• Aerolase Neo Elite. NeoSkin at $300 for a half face, $450 for a full face, $600 for face and neck. At 1064 nm this is the device we use across the full range of skin tones.
• Morpheus 8. $600 for a half face, $900 for a full face, $1,400 for face and neck.

Who is treating you

Injectables are done by Jasmine Saggu, RN, Aesthetic Nurse Injector, by Peyman Mohseni, IMG, Cosmetic Injector, and by Shahram Mafazi, IMG, PDD. Lasers, peels, microneedling and facials are Julia Barabas, Medical Aesthetician and Glow Specialist, and Saba Deyhim, Medical Aesthetician, Skin and Laser. Julia does not inject. The clinic runs under the medical direction of Dr. John David Henneberry-Fudge, MD, FRCPC, CPSO #95972, who is responsible for standing orders, screening and adverse-event response, and who does not carry out treatments himself.

The first visit

There is no charge for a consultation and none for the skin analysis. Intake is completed online before you arrive so the appointment starts with the assessment. Nothing is injected until you have a written plan with product, dose and price on it, and taking that plan home to think about is a normal outcome rather than an awkward one. A card is held when you book and nothing goes through it then. More than 24 hours notice costs nothing to cancel. A no-show is $100.

Can I come on a lunch break from East York?

For toxin, realistically yes, if you are driving and the DVP is behaving. For filler, plan for swelling and do not book anything that needs you to look settled that afternoon. For laser, the skin is sun-sensitive afterwards, which matters on a westbound drive home in summer.

Do you treat the under eye?

Yes, and it is assessed before it is booked. Not every tired under eye is a volume problem, and filler put into the wrong one makes it worse rather than better. There is more on the tear trough page.
