Thread lifts in Toronto, a lift without surgery
A thread lift uses fine, dissolvable sutures to reposition and support soft tissue that has started to descend, restoring definition along the jaw, neck, and brow without an operation or general anesthetic. At Bar Beauty Medical in CityPlace, Fort York, we use Aptos threads, a well established suspension system made from biodegradable PLLA and PCL. Every plan is consultation led and matched to your anatomy and the lift you genuinely need. Threads are not a facelift replacement for everyone, and we will tell you plainly when surgery or a different approach would serve you better. For a deeper walkthrough, read our Toronto thread lift patient guide.
What an Aptos thread lift actually is
Aptos threads are absorbable sutures made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and polycaprolactone (PCL), the same biocompatible materials used in dissolvable surgical stitches and in collagen-stimulating injectables. The thread is textured with tiny barbs or cones that grip tissue from the inside, so when it is placed along a planned vector it gently gathers and suspends the area that has drooped. Over the months that follow, the thread breaks down naturally and your body lays down fresh collagen along its path. You are left with the support the collagen provides long after the thread itself is gone.
What a thread lift actually does
Two things happen with a thread lift. First, the threads mechanically lift and hold tissue in a better position, which you can see on the table that day. Second, as the threads dissolve over the following months, they stimulate your own collagen along their path, which adds gradual firmness and improves skin quality. The result is a refreshed, lifted look that is noticeable but still natural, with most of the downtime measured in days, not weeks. It softens early sagging rather than removing skin, so it suits people who want to look rested and defined, not operated on.
The lifts we offer at Bar Beauty
Our Silhouette Soft face lift targets the mid and lower face, lifting cheeks and softening the jawline and jowls. The full face lift uses the Aptos approach across more zones for a more comprehensive result. The neck lift addresses laxity and banding under the jaw, and a Nefertiti-style vector can sharpen the jawline border. The brow lift raises a heavy or flat brow, and the fox eye lift elongates the tail of the brow and outer eye for a subtle almond shape. Which one suits you depends on where your laxity actually is, which we assess in person rather than guessing from a photo.
Aptos versus PDO threads, and why we chose Aptos
PDO (polydioxanone) threads are the other common option you will read about. They dissolve faster, usually within four to six months, and lean more on the collagen they stimulate than on a strong mechanical lift. Aptos threads, built from PLLA and PCL, last longer in the tissue and are engineered specifically for suspension, so the lift tends to hold better and longer. We carry Aptos because, in our hands, it gives a more reliable result for the kind of lifting our patients ask for. If you want the full comparison, we wrote an honest one here: Aptos vs PDO threads, what is the difference.
What the appointment is actually like
We start with a complimentary consultation where we map your face, agree on realistic vectors, and decide how many threads each area needs. On treatment day we cleanse and mark the entry points, then numb them with local anesthetic so the procedure is comfortable. The threads are introduced through a fine needle or cannula along the planned path, the tissue is lifted into position, and the ends are trimmed flush under the skin so nothing is visible. Most full sessions take about thirty to sixty minutes, and you see the lift immediately, before any of the collagen benefit has even started.
Who is a good candidate
Thread lifts work best for mild to moderate laxity, typically in people in their late thirties through fifties who want definition back without surgery. If your skin is very lax or heavy, threads alone will underwhelm, and we will say so rather than sell you a result we cannot deliver. Threads also pair well with biostimulators and energy treatments that improve skin quality, so the lift sits on healthier tissue. Not sure where you land? Recovery, week by week
Expect some tenderness, mild swelling, and occasional bruising for a few days, with a feeling of tightness that settles over a week or two. Most people are back to work and normal routines quickly, with a few sensible rules in the first weeks: sleep on your back, avoid heavy chewing and big facial expressions, and skip strenuous exercise and facials for a short window so the threads can settle. We walk you through the whole timeline in Thread lift recovery week by week.
How long results last
Results commonly last around twelve to eighteen months, often longer thanks to the collagen that builds along the threads after they dissolve. The treatment can be repeated, and many patients top up before the original lift has fully relaxed to keep the effect consistent. Lifestyle matters too: sun protection, stable weight, and good skin care all help the result hold.
What thread lifts cost at Bar Beauty
Thread lifts are quoted per treatment based on the number of threads and the area, and most plans fall in the range of roughly $3,000 to $4,000. Consultations are complimentary and come with an honest assessment of whether threads are right for you. The full, live menu, with the current price for each area, is on our price list.
Who performs your thread lift
Thread lifts at Bar Beauty are performed by our medical injection team under the medical direction of Dr. John David Henneberry-Fudge, MD FRCPC. Every plan is mapped to your anatomy at your consultation, and we use conservative vectors and thread counts so the result reads as you, refreshed, rather than pulled.
Reasons a thread lift might not be right for you
If your skin laxity is advanced, a surgical lift will give a bigger, longer-lasting change, and we will refer you rather than under-treat. Active skin infection, certain autoimmune or healing conditions, and pregnancy are reasons to wait or avoid threads. And if your real concern is volume loss rather than sagging, filler or a biostimulator may serve you better. An honest consultation is how we sort that out before you commit.
Thread lift FAQ
Is a thread lift the same as a facelift?
No. A surgical facelift removes and repositions tissue for a larger, longer lasting change. A thread lift is a less invasive refresh for mild to moderate laxity, with much shorter recovery and no general anesthetic.
Are Aptos threads PDO threads?
No. Aptos threads are made from PLLA and PCL, not PDO. They are designed for a stronger, longer-lasting suspension and we carry them for exactly that reason.
How long do thread lifts last?
Usually around twelve to eighteen months, often longer. The collagen your body builds along the threads extends the benefit well beyond the threads themselves.
Is it painful?
We use local anesthetic, so the procedure itself is comfortable. Afterward you can expect mild tenderness and a tight feeling for a few days that settles on its own.
Will I look obvious or overdone?
Not with conservative vectors and sensible thread counts, which is how we plan every case. The goal is a rested, defined version of your own face, not a pulled look.
How soon can I go back to work?
Most people return to work within a day or two. Any visible bruising is usually easy to cover, and the tight sensation eases over the first week.
Can threads be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Threads pair well with biostimulators, filler where volume is the issue, and skin-tightening energy treatments, so the lift sits on firmer, healthier tissue.
How do I book?
