Juvederm in Toronto: What It Is, and Why Bar Beauty Medical Uses Vivacy Stylage and Revanesse Instead

By Basil Russo, Founder, Bar Beauty Medical, 46 Fort York Blvd, CityPlace Toronto. Clinically reviewed by Jasmine Saggu, RN, Aesthetic Nurse Injector.

Short version: Juvederm is the hyaluronic acid (HA) filler family from Allergan. We do not carry it. For HA face filler we use the full Vivacy Stylage range (S, M, L, XL, XXL) and Revanesse for entry-priced lip work, with Teosyal Redensity 2 for the under-eye, Redensity 1 as a skin booster, and Sculptra and Radiesse as biostimulators for deeper structure. This page explains what Juvederm is, what each of its products is built for, and the exact product we use in its place.

If you searched “Juvederm Toronto,” what you actually want is probably a fuller lip, a lifted cheek, a softer fold, or a sharper jaw. The brand on the syringe matters far less than the injector holding it and the plan behind the placement. So here is the straight comparison.

The name printed on the syringe is the last decision in a filler appointment and the least consequential one. Four things happen in the room that decide how the result looks and how safe it is, and not one of them reads differently depending on the label. Here is the sequence.

What happens in the room on the day, and which of it the brand decides
The step What it settles Does the brand change it
Assessment at rest and in motion, then a written quote Which area is causing the concern, and whether an injection is the answer at all No. Most of the outcome is settled here, before any packaging is opened.
Topical numbing, with lidocaine already in the gel How comfortable the twenty minutes are, and how still you can hold No. The gels we use carry lidocaine the same way the ones people arrive asking for do.
Needle or blunt cannula, picked by area Bruising, and how much risk sits in zones like the midface and the under-eye No. That is an anatomy call rather than a product one.
Hyaluronidase kept on site What can be done straight away if something goes wrong, and what can be undone months later if you change your mind No, so long as what went in was a hyaluronic acid. Collagen stimulators are a separate conversation.

The serious complication with any hyaluronic acid, whoever makes it, is vascular occlusion. The protections are anatomy, conservative technique, a cannula where the area suits one, and the enzyme within reach. We do not stock the Juvederm family, and none of those four lines would look different if we did.

What Juvederm is

Juvederm is the best-known HA filler brand in North America, made by Allergan (now part of AbbVie), the same company behind Botox. It uses a manufacturing process called Vycross in its newer products, which blends different HA molecule weights for a smooth gel and longer duration. The family includes Ultra and Ultra Plus for lips and general volume, Volbella for lips and fine lines, Vollure and Volift for folds, Voluma for cheeks, Volux for the jawline and chin, and Skinvive for skin hydration. It is a strong, well-studied line. It is simply not the one we built our menu around.

Why we use Vivacy Stylage and Revanesse instead

Stylage is a French HA filler line made by Vivacy. It uses IPN-Like cross-linking for a smooth, cohesive gel with slower water absorption, and it is stabilized with mannitol, a natural antioxidant that protects the gel from free-radical breakdown after placement. Two things made it our HA filler of choice. First, the full Stylage range runs from S, the thinnest, to XXL, the densest, so we can match the exact gel to the exact anatomy instead of forcing one product to do several jobs. Second, the smooth gel and mannitol stabilization suit the natural, conservative look our patients ask for. We add Revanesse for accessible lip work, Teosyal Redensity for the under-eye and skin quality, and Sculptra and Radiesse when the goal is collagen-built structure rather than instant gel volume.

The Vivacy Stylage range, and what each size does

Choosing the right Stylage is about anatomy, not preference. Here is what each one is designed for.

  • Stylage S: very soft and low density. Fine lines around the mouth, subtle lip work, and the under-eye when a soft, low-water gel is needed.
  • Stylage M: medium density. Moderate wrinkles, lip volume with projection, and nasolabial folds.
  • Stylage L: thicker, for structure. Deep folds, cheek enhancement, and jawline support, placed deeper in the tissue or on bone.
  • Stylage XL: high-volume sculpting. Significant volume loss, cheekbone projection, and chin augmentation.
  • Stylage XXL: the densest gel, for deep structural volume where maximum lift is the goal.

Filler by treatment area

Lips

Lip work is about proportion, border definition, and hydration, not maximum size. We use Stylage, or Revanesse for entry-priced work, usually half a syringe to one syringe for a natural result. Expect a day or three of swelling and your true result at two weeks. Lip filler typically lasts nine to twelve months because the mouth never stops moving. Full detail on our lip filler in Toronto page.

Cheeks and mid-face

This is the Juvederm Voluma job, and it is where restoring support quietly reframes the whole lower face. We use Stylage for direct structural lift, or Sculptra when a patient prefers a gradual, collagen-built change. Cheek results often last twelve to eighteen months or more.

Under-eye and tear trough

This is the area we are strictest about. The skin is the thinnest on the face, so the wrong product or depth shows immediately as puffiness or a bluish tint. We use Teosyal Redensity 2, a filler made specifically for the under-eye, with Stylage as a soft alternative, placed deep and conservatively and only in the right candidate.

Chin and jawline

For a stronger chin and a sharper jaw, the Volux territory, we use Stylage where an HA suits the plan, and Radiesse when the goal is hard, durable projection. A defined jaw also balances the lower face after masseter Botox. See jawline contouring.

Folds and lines

Nasolabial folds and marionette lines respond to a mix of direct fill and upstream cheek support. Stylage is our usual choice, often combined with cheek work so we treat the cause, not just the crease.

Is Stylage as good as Juvederm?

Neither is better in the abstract. Both are reversible HA fillers with strong safety records and overlapping duration ranges of roughly nine to twenty-four months depending on the product and area. Juvederm has the larger North American footprint and a deep body of studies behind individual products. Stylage offers a complete size range and mannitol-stabilized, smooth gels that integrate beautifully for natural results. Experienced injectors choose by anatomy and patient, not by brand loyalty. Anyone who tells you one brand is universally superior is selling, not assessing.

If you specifically want Juvederm, here is honest advice

Plenty of reputable Toronto clinics carry the Juvederm family. We are glad to refer when you have a real reason to want it: prior Juvederm results you loved, existing work you want maintained with the same product, or a specific product you have researched. HA on HA layering is fine, so if you had Juvederm elsewhere we can maintain your result with Stylage, and we always dissolve old, migrated, or overfilled filler first. The right filler is the one your injector knows cold, used in the area it was built for, at the correct depth and dose.

What HA filler costs at Bar Beauty Medical

We publish real prices, not “starting from” bait. HA filler begins around $500 per syringe with Revanesse and runs through the Stylage range depending on the area and product. Lip filler starts at $500. Tear trough runs roughly $800 to $1,200 for both sides with Teosyal Redensity 2. Cheek and jawline work uses Stylage or a biostimulator depending on the projection goal, quoted per area at your consult. The full, live menu is on our price list, and consults are always free with a written quote.

What a filler appointment is like, and who injects

Every treatment starts with a free consult, about twenty minutes, where we assess your face at rest and in motion, talk through what is actually driving the concern, and give you a written quote with no pressure to book that day. If you proceed, we cleanse and apply topical numbing, and the Stylage gels also contain lidocaine. We use a needle or a blunt cannula depending on the area, since cannulas reduce bruising and vascular risk in zones like the cheeks and tear trough.

Jasmine Saggu, RN, our Aesthetic Nurse Injector, performs our filler treatments under the standing orders of medical director Dr. John David Henneberry-Fudge, MD FRCPC (CPSO #95972). Also on our team is Shahram Mafazi, IMG, PDD, our Aesthetic Medicine Expert, Trainer and Instructor, who holds a Professional Diploma in Dermatology (PDD) from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. Injectables carry real if rare risks, the most serious being vascular occlusion, and the protections against it are anatomy knowledge, conservative technique, cannula use where appropriate, and immediate access to hyaluronidase, the enzyme that dissolves HA filler, which we keep on site.

Frequently asked questions

Does Bar Beauty Medical carry Juvederm?

No. We use Vivacy Stylage for HA face filler, Revanesse for entry-priced lip work, Teosyal Redensity 2 for the under-eye and Redensity 1 as a booster, and Sculptra and Radiesse as biostimulators.

Why Stylage instead of Juvederm?

A product-fit decision. The full Stylage size range lets us match gel to anatomy precisely, and the smooth, mannitol-stabilized gel gives the natural results we want. It is not a quality judgment on Juvederm.

I had Juvederm before. Can you maintain it with Stylage?

Yes. HA on HA layering is fine. If old filler has migrated or you were overfilled, we dissolve first, then rebuild with Stylage.

Is Stylage reversible like Juvederm?

Yes. Both are hyaluronic acid and dissolve with hyaluronidase, which we keep on site.

How long will my filler last?

Roughly nine to twelve months in lips and other mobile areas, and twelve to eighteen months or more in cheeks and structural zones, depending on the product, area, and your metabolism.

Where can I get Juvederm in Toronto?

Many established med spas and dermatology clinics carry it. Choose one with a licensed injector who treats your target area regularly and publishes pricing.
