How Aptos threads work
An Aptos thread is a fine bidirectional suture made from polylactic acid (PLA) or polycaprolactone (PCL), both fully bio-absorbable materials. The thread is inserted just under the skin through a tiny puncture point, anchored, and tightened to lift the surrounding tissue immediately. Over the following months, the thread itself is absorbed by the body, but the controlled inflammation it triggers stimulates collagen production where the thread sat. The result is an immediate lift plus 12 to 18 months of progressively firmer, more supported skin.

They’re an ideal next step when filler alone isn’t enough but you don’t want a surgical lift, and they pair well with InMode Forma RF and Body FX for clients who want to layer skin-tightening modalities. Clients with significant excess skin or deep gravitational changes are usually better served by surgical referral, which we’ll tell you up front during consultation.
What to expect on the day
Plan for 90 minutes to two hours. The treatment area is cleaned and topical anaesthetic is applied. Local lidocaine is then injected at the entry points, so the thread placement itself is comfortable. Each thread is placed individually under the skin and secured. You’ll see a visible lift immediately, with mild swelling and pin-point bruising at entry points for 5 to 7 days. Most clients return to office work within 48 hours.
Aftercare
For the first two weeks: no facial massages, no aggressive skincare, no sleeping face-down, and no high-impact exercise. We provide written aftercare instructions and a free follow-up at four weeks to assess settling and discuss adjuncts (filler, RF, or skin treatments) that complement the thread result. The threads themselves are absorbed over six to eight months, but the collagen they produce continues to firm the area for up to 18 months.
